Chemical Supplier Challenges

A person in yellow overalls and a face mask moves a blue container with a toxic skull and crossbone warning on the side

THE CHALLENGE

Warehouses storing chemicals face strict regulatory, safety, and environmental demands. Precision is critical.

THE PROBLEM

Our client needed to comply with regulations (e.g. REACH, OSHA, GHS) for storage and handling, manage expiry dates, batch tracking, and FIFO/FEFO stock rotation, store hazardous materials safely, with accurate labelling and segregation, integrate SDS (Safety Data Sheets) and compliance documentation, prevent cross-contamination and manage chemical compatibility, monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity), maintain audit trails and traceability for regulatory reporting, and handle complex unit conversions and density-based inventory.

THE SOLUTION

A cloud-based WMS was installed to cover all warehousing processes. Storage locations were configured to comply with HAZMAT rules (segregation, signage, containment). FEFO logic was enabled with batch tracking and alerts for nearing-expiry stock. Warehouse zones were configured and rules set up to restrict co-location of incompatible chemicals. Digital audit trails and reporting tools were set up to ensure easy compliance documentation, and data capture was automated with barcode or mobile scanning for all inbound and outbound processes.
