ECOMMERCE RETAILER AND WHOLESALER Challenges

ECOMMERCE RETAILER AND WHOLESALER

THE CHALLENGE

A UK-based company retailer of consumer products with a strong eCommerce presence wanted to grow the business without increasing cost and complexity in their operations.

THE PROBLEM

The manually driven warehouse fulfilment process was unable to cope with demand. Paper-based solutions were inefficient, slow, and subject to picking error. They wanted to automate their picking and warehouse operations using existing staff.

THE SOLUTION

Threefold:

  • Integration of eCommerce platform with new WMS using API tools.
  • Introduce structured, formal item master to support efficient, bar-coded stock control and reduce errors.
  • Implementation of a cloud-based WMS to improve key warehouse processes e.g., eCommerce customer orders create picks in WMS system that are sent directly to handheld scanners in the warehouse.

Plans are now in place to automate the despatch process and carrier label generation.

Low-Cost Automation Ideas for Small Warehouses

Running a small warehouse often means balancing tight budgets, limited staff, and increasing customer expectations. While large distribution centres may invest millions in advanced robotics and AI-driven systems, smaller warehouses can still benefit from automation without making a huge financial commitment.

Choosing the Right KPIs for Your Automotive WMS

In the automotive supply chain, a delayed shipment, incorrect pick, or inaccurate stock level can stop an entire production line. The real competitive advantage comes from choosing the right Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure, optimise, and continuously improve your operation.

Why Automotive Warehouses Need Serial Number Tracking

Automotive warehouses manage thousands of parts, many of which can be high-value, safety-critical, or variant-specific. Serial number tracking identifies each individual item uniquely. Here we explain why serial tracking is needed and how the THINK WMS supports it.

Streamlining Automotive Warehousing in a Changing Sustainability Landscape

The automotive industry is undergoing a significant transformation. While regulatory frameworks continue to evolve, the real challenge for most warehouses is building the operational structure, data accuracy, and reporting capability needed to support compliance.

The Hidden Cost of Poor Inventory Hygiene
